Sunday afternoon was so nice I had to get out and into town, despite my determination that I was going to rest up.
I went to the beach where you can always find something unusual. I was right by Brighton Pier
To my right was the hulk of the Western Pier, destroyed in a storm but now serving as a kind of Brighton Icon.
And in front of me, an actual Punch and Judy show!
There are shops all along the "boardwalk" at beach level--but the path is actually concrete.
Many stores sell food and many others souvenirs, but there is a certain part that sells fine art. At one store, the hippo lures you in.
And the horse laughs at you once you enter.
I did find a small print that I liked at one of the shops, but as I kept looking I found the same print again. One was marked 5 of 50 and the other 5 of 30. Makes you think it's all a scam. I asked about this and the woman at the store actually called the painter. Her explanation that she got all confused did not really go over with me, so I put back the print.
I walked back through The Lanes shopping area again and passed by this building--which looks to be a legal office. The firm name just struck me as hilarious.
All over were examples of how many flowers are blooming in Brighton right now, including at this eatery.
I passed by this building which apparently was the first jail in Brighton. Must not have been much crime back then.
And finally I found a store that acknowledged that a new prince had just been born.
I got back home and made plans for the coming week, my last here in Brighton. Monday would be a trip to Rye.
